It’s OK to lie…apparently

Posted in Fox News, lying by Tony C on August 6, 2007

With all the flap about phoney phone-ins and clips edited together in the wrong order to imply things that didn’t actually happen, you’d be forgiven for thinking that media organisations would or should have some obligation to tell the truth so things like the above don’t happen.  But apparently not…in February 2003 a Florida Court of Appeals unanimously agreed with an assertion by FOX News that there is no rule against distorting or falsifying the news in the United States.  This amounts to a liars charter for Murdoch and News Corp…so the next time you read The Times, The Sun or watch Sky News bear in mind the corporation doesn’t necessarily feel the need to tell the truth.  But you already knew that!
