The French don’t like Blackberry

Posted in Blackberry, email, France, mobile, RIM by Tony C on June 21, 2007

According to a report over at the Seattle Post the French Government are banning the use of Blackberry’s.  The idea of their email traffic passing thought RIMs NOC (Network Operations Center) in the US is too much to stomach as they reckon the US Government maybe able to take a peak.  Although the US Government would probably love to find out what the French Government are up this probably has more to do with the current icy relationship between them than the real threat of the CIA reading French email.

Besides I know someone who sells a mobile solution that does all the things a Blackberry can do plus an awful lot more…

I think you hit the nail on head with the “icy relationship” remark. When I wrote about thisstory this past Friday, I found it a bit humorous – I’m curious what “secrets” they need to keep away from the US.
